The Scottish Rite Foundation of Omaha was formed in 1972 to consolidate the philanthropies of Omaha's Scottish Rite Masons. In the 1970s, Scottish Rite Masons recognized a need for speech therapy for children. The RiteCare Speech and Language Clinics were formed to provide therapy to children throughout the state with Clinics in Omaha (UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute, Lincoln (Barkley Memorial Center), Hastings (Hastings Masonic Center), Kearney (University of Nebraska at Kearney). In 2020, Scottish Rite Masons will donate $750,000 to offer these services to Nebraska families without regard to a family's ability to pay. Additionally, the Scottish Rite offers 14 $2,000 merit and need-based scholarships to UNO college students, a professorship in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and support for area non-profits.
